Steps To Grow Asparagus
STEP 1: Sowing Seeds
STEP 2: Plant Care
Lightly scarify the seed coat with sandpaper, soak in warm water (around 45°C) for 24 hours, and incubate in a damp towel for 15–20 days until they sprout.
Sow seeds 1 cm deep in loose, well-draining potting soil, keep evenly moist in a shaded spot until seedlings reach 15–20 cm with 4–6 true leaves, then transplant into large pots or the garden.
Water regularly to maintain moisture, and fertilize with organic compost plus high-potassium NPK during fruiting for sweeter, pinker flesh.
Pinch the main stem when the tree reaches 60–70 cm to stimulate flowering shoots.
Harvest 12–18 months after sowing (around 80 days post-flowering) when the skin turns light yellow-green, the bottom eye flattens, and a sweet aroma appears.
Use sharp pruning shears to cut stems in the early morning or late afternoon, avoiding pulling to protect adjacent flower buds.

The shop delivered very quickly; the plant is healthy and thriving, having produced plenty of new leaves after six months of growth, and it even came with two small packets of slow-release fertilizer.
